Coronavirus: Nutrition Assistance Information

In this time of emergency, the U.S. Federal Government has passed bills making additional funds available for necessities. Below are some of the sources to be of additional assistance during this pandemic.

  • H.R. 6201— the second Coronavirus bill— provided half a billion dollars for WIC (the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) to help low-income pregnant women or mothers with young children who lose their jobs or are laid off due to the coronavirus emergency, in addition to emergency funds for SNAP, food banks, and senior nutrition programs.     • Georgia WIC is open and available for Women, Infants, and Children during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Contact your local WIC office for adjusted COVID-19 services available in your area. Click HERE
    • To apply for Meals on Wheels call 404-609-4559 to take part in their phone screening.
    • Families with children ages 18 years and younger: meals are being provided during Digital Learning Days to students via Gwinnett County Public Schools and Buford City Schools. Meals can be picked up at designated schools and bus stop locations. Meals are not provided by schools on weekends or during Spring Break.     • If you qualify for SNAP (food stamps) and have school-aged children, you may be eligible for emergency EBT food assistance to households with children who would otherwise receive free or reduce-priced meals if not for their schools being closed due to the coronavirus emergency.
